Comprehensive Root Management
Compost Topdressing
We apply a thick layer of premium, biologically active compost over the critical root zone. This organic material slowly breaks down, feeding the soil microbiome, increasing beneficial fungi, and slowly delivering essential nutrients directly to the tree's feeder roots.
Professional Mulching
A proper mulch ring is the best defense against extreme Texas heat. We install wide, flat layers of organic mulch that regulate soil temperature, drastically reduce water evaporation, and keep damaging lawnmowers and string trimmers far away from the delicate bark.
Soil Decompaction (Air Spade)
In highly trafficked or newly constructed yards, soil becomes compacted, suffocating the roots. We use specialized supersonic air excavation tools (Air Spades) to fracture the hardpan soil without damaging the fragile root system, allowing oxygen and water to penetrate deeply.
Root Collar Excavation
Trees planted too deeply or buried under "mulch volcanoes" will slowly suffocate and develop girdling roots that strangle the trunk. We carefully excavate the base of the tree to expose the vital root flare, preventing moisture rot and long-term structural failure.
The Danger of the "Mulch Volcano"
Piling mulch high against the trunk of a tree is one of the most common and damaging landscaping mistakes. It traps moisture against the bark, causing severe decay, and encourages roots to grow upward into the mulch rather than outward into the soil.
